Innovative Model of Breast Cancer Rehabilitation

TurningPoint Women's Healthcare is proud to be part of an international initiative that introduces an innovative model of ongoing surveillance to identify physical side effects of breast cancer treatment. The goal is to reduce or prevent these issues and facilitate early treatment. The model was developed over the past year by a panel of internationally known experts, with the support of the American Cancer Society and input from national healthcare professional organizations and advocacy groups. The physical needs of women with breast cancer and scientific evidence to support rehabilitation and exercise during and after treatment were recently published in a special supplement to the journal Cancer. The project and proposed model of rehabilitation offers hope for improved function and full participation in life activities for patients through rehabilitation and exercise.

  • Fatigue
  • Arm, hand, and/or breast swelling, or lymphedema
  • Increased stress and relationship issues
  • Weight Gain
