Susann Bedford
Susann Bedford, MD, ABPS
Dr. Susann Bedford is a plastic surgeon in The Beauty of Knowledge Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery practice in Atlanta.
Dr. Bedford received her B.S. in chemistry and biology from the University of California, Irvine and her M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine. Dr. Bedford completed her residency training in General Surgery as well as Plastic Surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital of Washington University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Bedford is experienced in many aspects of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Bedford completed a breast and aesthetic fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital. Here she trained with world renowned Drs. Scott L. Spear and Maurice Nahabedian performing a variety of breast surgery procedures, including microsurgical breast reconstruction.
Dr. Bedford has published several articles addressing the issues of breast reconstruction which can be found in the journal of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Additionally, she has given numerous presentations specifically addressing TRAM breast reconstruction as well as other procedures for breast cancer patients.

Sheryl Gabram
Sheryl Gabram, MD, MBA, FACS
Sheryl Gabram MD MBA FACS is Professor of Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine, a breast surgical oncologist at Winship Cancer Institute, Deputy Director of the Georgia Cancer Center for Excellence at Grady and Director of the AVON Comprehensive Breast Center. In 2007, she was named a Georgia Cancer Coalition Distinguished Cancer Scholar.
Board certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Gabram earned her medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., conducted her residency at the Washington Hospital Center and a fellowship at Hartford Hospital, University of Connecticut. She also holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Connecticut.
Her current research focuses on decreasing disparities for breast cancer patients. She serves as the medical liaison for the AVON community outreach and navigation program and is responsible for clinical access to high quality care for patients seen in the AVON Comprehensive Breast Center at Grady. From a predictive health perspective, she collaborates with researchers from Georgia Tech on the examination of breath biomarkers in exhaled specimens as a potential tool for breast cancer disease detection and monitoring. To date she has over 65 peer reviewed journal publications.
Dr. Gabram is the recipient of numerous awards and honors. She has been named by the patient resource guide Castle Connolly as one of America’s Top Doctors for eight consecutive years and American’s Top Cancer Doctors for six consecutive years. She has received the Arthur G. Michel, MD Award for Excellence in Breast Care from the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization and was selected as one of Atlanta Magazine’s Top Doctors in 2007 and 2009. In the November 2008 Women’s Health magazine she was named one of 5 top oncologists for women in the South. Recently she was awarded a scholarship from the American College of Surgeons to participate in a Leadership Program in Health Policy and Management at Brandeis University. Additionally, she is a member of several prestigious professional societies including a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.

Susan Harris
Susan Harris, PT, PhD, FAPTA, FCAHS
Dr. Harris is a Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at University of British Columbia. She received her B.Sc. in Physical Therapy from Russell Sage College-Albany Medical College and her M.Ed. and Ph.D. from University of Washington. Susan has published extensively in the area of pediatrics, evidence-based practice and cancer rehabilitation and is an internationally recognized speaker. She is Editor of Physiotherapy Canada and serves as Editorial Board Member for Physical Therapy. A two-time breast cancer survivor, she was an original member of “Abreast in a Boat”, the world’s first Dragon Boat team comprised entirely of women living with breast cancer. Dr. Harris is lead author of the Canadian clinical practice guidelines on management of breast cancer-related lymphedema as well as upper extremity guidelines for management after breast cancer surgery, both published in 2001. Another area of research interest and involvement is enhancing communication between persons living with cancer and their health care providers.

Pamela Levangie
Pamela Levangie, PT, DSc, FAPTA
Dr. Levangie is Professor and Associate Chairperson, Department of Physical Therapy, School of Rehabilitation Sciences at MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston. Prior to her position at the Institute, Dr. Levangie held long-time faculty and administrative positions at Boston University and Sacred Heart University, and most recently as a visiting professor at Simmons College. Dr. Levangie received her Bachelor of Science in physical therapy from Northeastern University, her Master of Science from Boston University, and her Doctor of Science in Epidemiology from Boston University’s School of Public Health. She was a member of Boston University’s physical therapy faculty for 23 years before joining Sacred Heart in 1996. Her teaching has focused on kinesiology and research content, and she is the primary author of a widely used text entitled Joint Structure and Function: A Comprehensive Analysis, now in its fourth edition. She has been a curriculum consultant to several physical therapy programs, and presents regionally and nationally in the areas of research, kinesiology, and problem-based learning. Dr. Levangie has held many leadership positions in the APTA, including serving as President of the Section on Research, ex officio member of the Scientific Review Committee of the Foundation for Physical Therapy, and a member of the editorial board of Physical Therapy. In 2001, Dr. Levangie received the APTA’s Dorothy E. Baethke-Eleanor J. Carlin Award for Excellence in Academic Teaching; and in 2009 she was elected as a Catherine Worthingham Fellow, the APTA’s highest honor.

Dr. Yvette Williams, MD, MPH is a graduate of the University of the West Indies (MD 1983) and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (MPH 1998). She did an initial residency in Internal Medicine within the teaching hospitals of the University of London in England followed by a second Internal Medicine residency in Kentucky at the University of Louisville. Dr Williams Joined the Veterans Administration system in Louisville Kentucky in 1991. In 1993 she was appointed Medical Director of the Louisville VA’s Primary Care Clinic. In 1996 she moved to the Atlanta area where she assisted the Atlanta VA in the transition from the Acute Care/Evaluation Clinic/ER model to a genuine Primary Care Clinic system. In 2000, Dr. Williams established a Comprehensive Women’s Primary Care Clinic at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. This clinic continues to grow in size and regularly wins praise from female veterans for its customer friendly atmosphere and outlook. She developed and spearheads several population based chronic disease projects as director of the VISN 7 Chronic Disease Knowledge Management Unit.
