Atlanta Initiative

Our new Atlanta clinic is located at: 349 Decatur St. SE, Suite M, Atlanta GA 30312

To continue with our mission to reduce socioeconomic, racial, cultural and geographic barriers to care, TurningPoint now provides care in our second clinic in downtown Atlanta. Conveniently located steps from the MLK Marta station and MLK Recreation and Aquatic Center, we welcome those from all communities however, our programs are focused on the underserved in downtown and south Atlanta.

The Atlanta Initiative was designed to meet the needs and increase access to care for breast cancer survivors in metro, downtown, and south Atlanta. The pilot program for this initiative was launched by TurningPoint in 2021 in a shared space provided, pro bono, by The Center for Black Women’s Wellness in downtown Atlanta.

The program continued in this location until August 2023 when TurningPoint opened the Atlanta Satellite Clinic in downtown Atlanta with the support of a three-year grant from an anonymous Atlanta Foundation, individual and corporate donors, as well as income from planned fundraising events.

The Atlanta Satellite Clinic provides direct in-person and telehealth patient rehabilitation services as part of a community-focused solution. It is centered around:

  • Providing a geographically accessible clinic in downtown Atlanta (next to the MLK Marta station and close to Grady Hospital),
  • Promoting awareness of TurningPoint’s programs and services, and
  • Offering financial and transportation assistance to Black, LGBTQ+, and other marginalized or minority breast cancer survivors.

By bridging the gap between need and access, TurningPoint enables patients to focus on their recovery and well-being without the added worry of financial obstacles. This compassionate approach reflects the organization’s unwavering dedication to empowering individuals and their families during one of the most challenging times of their lives.

This clinic is led by Dr. Janae Finley, TurningPoint’s Assistant Clinical Director. Dr. Finley is a Black breast cancer survivor and former TurningPoint patient.

Financial assistance, complimentary care and reduced-fee services and programs

A cancer diagnosis is a life-altering event that not only affects a patient’s health but also significantly impacts their ability to work and maintain their usual roles and responsibilities. This disruption often leads to financial strain, as patients and their families face the dual burden of medical expenses and reduced income. The emotional toll is compounded by concerns about covering basic living expenses and accessing necessary care.

To address these challenges, TurningPoint is committed to easing the financial burden faced by individuals undergoing breast cancer treatment. Thanks to the generosity of donors, sponsors, and community grants, many of TurningPoint’s programs and services are offered at no cost or at significantly reduced fees. These services are designed to ensure that every patient has access to the comprehensive care they need, regardless of their financial situation.

In addition to these offerings, TurningPoint provides direct financial assistance to those who need it most. This ensures that no woman or man facing breast cancer is ever turned away from receiving the critical support they deserve. By bridging the gap between need and access, TurningPoint enables patients to focus on their recovery and well-being without the added worry of financial obstacles. This compassionate approach reflects the organization’s unwavering dedication to empowering individuals and their families during one of the most challenging times of their lives.
