The Georgia Outreach Initiative was initiated in January 2022. The broad purpose of this program is to reduce geographic and financial barriers to specialized and evidence-based breast cancer rehabilitation and exercise for individuals in Georgia who live outside metro-Atlanta, where access to quality care can be limited or difficult.

Since October 2022, TurningPoint has received grant funding through the Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education (CORE) to continue this initiative and expand its reach in rural Georgia (outside Metro Atlanta). Nearly 30% of the patients served were minorities, and 15% received financial assistance.

Our Georgia Outreach Initiative reduces barriers to care by providing for:

• In-clinic and telehealth visits for physical therapy, emotional counseling, nutritional support, and exercise, with approximately one-third of patients utilizing a hybrid model of care (both in-clinic and virtual).
• Additional lymphedema education through self-management training via self-circumferential measures, promoting earlier detection and independence in monitoring symptoms.

• Transportation Assistance

This program reflects TurningPoint’s commitment to ensuring that all breast cancer survivors, regardless of their location or financial situation, have access to the specialized care and resources they need for recovery and improved quality of life.
